Homemade Yogurt Ice Cream – A Simple Recipe for a Cool Summer Treat

Summer is in full swing, and the sun just won’t quit? Nothing brings relief on a hot day quite like a scoop of refreshing ice cream—especially when it’s homemade! Yogurt ice cream is the perfect summer dessert: delicious, lighter than store-bought options, and made without artificial additives or preservatives. Plus, you have full control over the ingredients. Sound good? Here’s how easy it is to make them yourself!
Ingredients:
400 g natural yogurt (preferably thick, Greek-style)
2–3 tbsp honey or maple syrup (or cane sugar as an alternative)
200 g fresh fruit (e.g., strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or mango)
A few drops of lemon juice (to enhance the flavor)
Preparation:
Wash the fruit thoroughly and blend into a smooth purée. In a bowl, mix the yogurt with honey and lemon juice. Gently stir in the fruit purée—leave some colorful swirls for a beautiful marbled effect if you like. Pour the mixture into ice cream molds or small containers. Freeze for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
You can also add extra goodies like chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut. For a vegan version, simply use a plant-based yogurt alternative, such as coconut or almond yogurt.
Homemade yogurt ice cream is a quick and healthy treat that both kids and adults will love. Try it once, and it’s sure to become a regular in your summer menu!
